Red Paper Heart - Coinbase/Future Market

In summer 2022 I collaborated with Red Paper Heart to help bring to life the Future Market exhibition, contributed by Coinbase as part of the NFT.NYC 2022 conference. Future Market is a space where physical and digital blend seamlessly, offering a glimpse into an alternative way of experiencing creator culture.

Under normal operation, the gallery would pull new NFT content and metadata through a backend developed by RPH and powered by Coinbase APIs, filling the gallery and rotating content through animations and effects. In addition, visitors could upload their own NFT collections by checking in at the entrance, receiving a QR code, and then scanning it in the gallery area—at that point their collection would "take over" parts of the gallery space for a set amount of time before resuming normal operation.

I was responsible for building a generic grid-view canvas system that could handle various pixel sizes and arrangements for the gallery space in an easy and configurable way. Animations and effects are part of the same system, supporting the overall visual language together with different types of transitions between individual NFTs and entire collections. The application also handled and reacted to visitors scanning their collections for display in the gallery.

Future Market was a 2023 W³ Award Gold winner.
